![]() LA was a publisher (if not the publisher) on most of the SW games so they'd hold distribution/sale rights on titles no matter who else has them. I'd love to see a massive roll out of past Star Trek games like Disney/LucasArts did with Star Wars (even though the number of good ones is much lower on the Trek side) but I think the ownership of the titles and distribution licenses will preclude that. And while we are at it, Activision should rerelease the Star Trek Armadas. I wish they would release Voyager: Elite Force on Steam. I've been enjoying it, but I've sunk 20 hours into it already, and I'm really only in like.act 3? I have no idea how many acts there are. It's honestly not too bad, but the game encourages grinding when it doesn't need to. Sad part is that I don't know if it's going to do well enough if part one is already dying off. We'll probably be seeing part 2 of Trails in the sky at least, it is being translated right now, and I think that they're far enough along that it's going to be released to at least partially recoup costs. Played on the PSP but I wouldn't expect the PC version to be any different. There are two(?) other games in the series that won't likely be getting a NA localization because it didn't sell well at all. On top of that the story was just bad and unfinished. Fights went on too long, didn't require much in the way of strategy and the difficulty was all over the map. It fell somewhere between boring and outright bad for me. How is legend of heroes, trails in the sky? Seems like I might be in the mood for something like that. In particular, The Swapper is about the same level of accessibility and difficulty as Portal (although concepts like portals and clones can be really unpredictable for someone who's also learning to simply control a game), and I Am Bread is fun and silly. We also have a lot of games that she plays while I watch. For kinda-gamers, Hearthstone can be fun, especially if you play together. When it's released, my former housemate's company's game BEARZERKERS should be similar, but I am super biased on that one. Jakal's selection is probably much more appropriate.Īs far as casual-ish games for non-gamers go, Mount Your Friends is great. Yeah, I should point out, she is a gamer - which means my list was very different to the game I originally mentioned. That said, this is still pretty off-topic, so further discuss may warrant its own thread. Much of this is or will be available for cheap during the winter sale. Surgeon Simulator or Octodad (arguably more entertaining with new gamers, but the appeal is likely to wear off quickly) Orcs Must Die 2 (can demand precision and intensive teamwork in later levels) Lego games (childish, often based around boring gameplay) Ibb & obb (very cute, but very timing-intensive) Portal 2 is also a good option, but be prepared to have to walk new gamers through the more complex puzzles. ![]() The environments are beautiful and the gameplay is forgiving. The combat is light and very easily managed by a single player. I'm not even going to get started with that one. SR3 or 4, maybe, but again, any combat-focused game is never a good choice for a new gamer. A combat FPS is clearly a poor choice, and the Borderlands games can be monotonous on top of that. Never Alone is beautiful, but the controls are way too frustrating, especially later in the game. opening up console options makes this a far easier topic to discuss)Īssuming the GF in question is a non-gamer, I respectfully veto that entire list. (Disclaimer: We're in a Steam thread, so the following post is Steam-only. It's a bit off-topic, but can you recommend other games for this purpose (hopefully ones that are currently on sale)? I bought Never Alone to co-op with the girlfriend.
